The family as a basic social group not only teaches proper values to their children, but above all also shapes their identity. In this way the family is involved in education axiology of human existence . The family is in fact both a school of social virtue and the school of the axiological world of children. The aim of this article attempts to show the influence of authority on the functioning of modern families. Therefore, the author performs semantic definition of descriptions of historical determinants of authority and the authority of the mother and father referring to matriarchy and patriarchy. The author also returned attention to the interdependence of authority in the process of education to values. Thus, in the rest of the article studies the implementation of parental authority, which is expressed in egalitarian upbringing. Only this kind
