The article wants to demonstrate, how the guidelines of the Second Vatican Council, regarding the sacrifice of mass, have been implemented in the Codex Iuris Canonici of 1983. It intends to show continuity as well as change of the canones concerning the sacrifice of mass, comparing the code of canon law of 1983 with the previous one of 1917. It could be especially emphasized, that the view shall be broadened from the priest to the participants of the mass. The Eucharist is an offering of the faithful, who should do everthing due to them on the base of the grace of baptism and their participation on the common priesthood.
