Abstract

Osanna Rickmann:
Imago Trinitatis and Configuration to the Son by way of the New Law
(FKTh 2015-4, p. 275–295)

The relation to the Father as lived by Christ in His human nature is the way and living model for the renewal of the image of the Trinity. According to Aquinas` view, the perfetion of the image of the Trinity and imitation of Christ are therefore not two contrasting ideas, rather they are unified by a trinitarian reading of the economy of salvation: The Holy Spirit attracts the redeemed to Christ, who is the Way to the Fahter. The »Law of the Spirit« (Rm 8:2) brings the image of the Trinity to perfection by configurating it to Christ and integrating it into the unity of the Church, which is an image of the trinitarian unity. Each »individual« image of the Trinity finds its full union to God by sharing the work of Christ within the unity of His mystical body
