Abstract
Markus Büning:
»Panis animarum« – Holy Eucharist in Saint Bernard of Clairvaux
(FKTh 2017-2, p. 113–124)
The author investigates the question, if and how Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, the »last Father of the Church«, can give some impulses for the discussion, begun years ago, on the «reform of the reform« in the liturgy. First, the article presents the principles of the Bernhardine conception on liturgy. These basic reflections show their consequences in the doctrine on Holy Eucharist. The expression panis animarum manifests the love of Bernhard to the Eucharistic Lord. This devotion is moved by the testimony of Holy Scripture, was noted by the people during numerous preaches and is very important also for the contemporary discussion.
