Abstract

Andrzej Kucinski:
Order of Nature – Order of Love
Against a naturalistic misunderstanding of Humanae vitae
(FKTh 2019-3, p. 174–183)

The encyclical Humanae vitae of Pope Paul VI about the transmission of live has been much criticized, since its origin, within German speaking moral theology. The 50th anniversary of the Papal writing is a good opportunity to eliminate some misunderstandings that concern its argumentation. Especially the reference to natural law about the inseparable union between the unitive and the procreative aspect of conjugal sexual intercourse should not interpreted in a naturalistic or biologist way. What is meant is the implication of human nature perceived by reason and manifested in free personal actions. In this way, the order of nature determines the order of love.
