Sexual Abuse and Clerical Homosexuality
Notes on a Puzzling Relationship
(FKTh 2019-4, p. 241–264)
Several studies on clerical sexual abuse of minors have revealed that a large majority of abuse victims are (post)pubescent boys. How is this to be explained? This paper first discusses two (by the MHG-study suggested) explanatory approaches (more opportunity, homophobia in combination with sexual immaturity). The apparently limited scope of these explanatory approaches may indicate that other factors, some of which are directly or indirectly related to the phenomenon of (clerical) homosexuality, should be given greater consideration.
