Several studies on clerical sexual abuse of minors have revealed that a large majority of abuse victims are (post)pubescent boys. How is this to be explained? This paper first discusses two (by the MHG-study suggested) explanatory approaches (more opportuni­ty, homophobia in combination with sexual immaturity). The apparently limited scope of these explanatory approaches may indicate that other factors, some of which are direc­tly or indirectly related to the phenomenon of (clerical) homosexuality, should be given greater consideration.
