„A Testimony that Must Not Be Forgotten“ (John Paul II). The Ravine beneath Larch Hill (Macesnova gorica) – Slovenia’s Katyn

To date, around 700 secret execution sites and burial grounds have been discovered in Slovenia, most of which date back to the period after the Second World War. It is estimated that up to 100,000 people were murdered. The excavations of the victims from the mined Lärchenberg gorge reveal the worst war crimes and crimes against humanity in Europe since the Second World War. The eyewitnesses, who miraculously managed to escape from the gorge, reported on the indescribable suffering of the victims. Today‘s efforts towards reconciliation and justice require a great deal of patience. But the testimony of the martyrs must not be forgotten.
