On the Theological Foundation and Understanding of Canon Law

For the theological foundation of law in the Church, the more incisive arguments that led to its rejection are presented first. The author sees the answer to this in the renewed and deepened perspective of the Church opened up by Vatican II. This is above all thanks to the sacramental understanding of the Church. As far as canon law is concerned, the suggestions of Pope Paul VI are then presented and their reception in the renewal of the study of canon law. Finally, the corresponding implications for canon law scholarship are presented.
