Previous bibliography on the Carl Schmitt - Erik Peterson controversy has largely overlooked the fact that the Council of Nicaea in 325 with its Christology was the focus of this dispute. This study aims to reconstruct Schmitt’s and Peterson’s controversial perspectives on the Homoousios theologoumenon, taking into account recent research results from theology and historiography.
