Abstract

Elmar Nass:
The Sino-Marxist Image of Man and Society
A Christian Social-Ethical Exploration
(FKTh 2024-1, p. 19–35)

Current discussions on how to deal with China in a justifiable way are currently dominating political, economic and also some scientific discussions. From a Christian perspective, social ethics can make an important contribution here by looking at the value foundations of the current Chinese social order. These lie above all in the image of man and society. Such programmatic discussions are still in their infancy, but they are essential for sustainable answers that are not guided by day-today business, political intimidation or economic interests. This article dares to take such a Christian social-ethical sounding by revealing essential lines of the social value basis in China, pointing out their consequences and critically evaluating them on the basis of the Christian image of man and society.
